In the past decade, words full of happiness were always on the lips of residents of Zhoushan, Zhejiang province.

Over the past decade, the city authorities have always been committed to addressing the immediate needs of the citizens, focusing on seven priority areas including education, healthcare, housing and vulnerable groups. By continuously improving the well-being of the citizens, the city has painted a happy backdrop for its development that is shared by all.

The "Happiness Canteen" is a new initiative launched in recent years as part of Zhoushan's elder care services, which contributed to addressing senior citizens' difficulties in getting meals and improving home-based elder care services.

Since 2022, the city has built 14 "Happiness Canteens", where seniors can enjoy discounted meals, ensuring they can eat well and have enough right at their doorsteps.

So far, Zhoushan has built a total of 37 home-based elder care service centers at town- or street-level and 153 home-based elder care service centers at village level, with the goal of establishing comprehensive elder care institutions.

Education and medical services have also been continuously improved and upgraded.
