Zhoushan's tourism surges during Qingming Festival holiday

Over the recent three-day Qingming Festival holiday, Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province welcomed 799,000 tourists, a 5.8 percent year-on-year increase, with overnight visitors hitting 394,000.

From April 4 to 6, the Zhoushan Cross-Sea Bridge handled 230,200 vehicles during the break, while the city's local water transport ferried 525,900 passengers, a 32.2 percent year-on-year increase.

Major tourist sources included Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Henan, and Anhui provinces, as well as Shanghai – with Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Taizhou cities being key contributors within the province.

During the holiday, Zhoushan's islands experienced a tourism boom, handling 334,000 visitors. The Putuo Mountain scenic area and Zhujiajian scenic area attracted a total of 280,400 tourists, a 28.9 percent year-on-year increase.

In the Putuo district of Zhoushan, attractions like Luotang road, Luxiaxu village, and Putuo Rural Complex proved to be real magnets for the visitors. They combined flower viewing with photography, fairs, and intangible cultural heritage during the break – introducing new tourism experiences.

Additionally, activities like camping, barbecues, and pet-friendly events boosted the tourism boom. In all, Zhoushan hosted 63 cultural, tourism, and sports events – enhancing the festive atmosphere and attracting a wide range of visitors.
