Zhoushan's GDP rises 6.9% in H1

Zhoushan in Zhejiang province recorded a 6.9 percent year-on-year GDP increase in the first half of this year, ranking first in the province, according to recent data from the city's municipal bureau of statistics. 

Its growth was driven by a balanced performance across all three economic sectors. The primary industry grew by 4.0 percent, the secondary industry by 6.9 percent, and the tertiary industry by 7.5 percent.

Fisheries remained a key pillar, with total aquatic product output reaching 698,000 metric tons, up 5.4 percent. Distant-water fishing rose by 9.0 percent and accounted for 48.7 percent of total output. Industrial output above designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan ($2.7 million) — surged by 11.5 percent, the highest in the province. 

The service sector led the province with 7.5 percent growth, contributing 3.4 percentage points to overall GDP growth. Fixed asset investment rose 7.3 percent, supported by major infrastructure projects like the Ningbo-Zhoushan railway. Retail sales totaled 29.72 billion yuan, up 6.3 percent.

Per capita disposable income reached 39,527 yuan, a 5.0 percent increase. Rural income grew 5.6 percent, outpacing urban residents' 4.6 percent growth.
