Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week ends with deals

Deals worth 19.87 billion yuan ($2.96 billion) covering 49 projects were signed as the 2016 Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week came to a close on Sept 27.

The week-long event was aimed at accelerating exchanges and cooperation on economy and trade, and further deepening the province's innovation-driven strategy.

Jointly supported by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and Zhejiang provincial government, the week's main session was held in Hangzhou with three parallel sessions in the province's Ningbo, Wenzhou and Jiaxing cities.

The majority of the 49 projects fall industries prioritized by the Zhejiang government, such as technology research, sightseeing agriculture, education and entrepreneurship. A total of 34 projects fall under equipment manufacturing, information technology, health, and biotechnology.

The event focused on making connections with featured towns and creating a corridor of technology innovation in West Hangzhou, settling 11 projects in and around towns, as well as Hangzhou Future Sci-tech City.
