UN to internationalize Chinese urban culture

A delegation of 56 UN representatives from countries including the  US, UK and Canada visited Xiaoshan, East China's Zhejiang province on July 15 to initiate a research program on the internationalization of Chinese urban culture, with Xiaoshan district as model, the news website CZTV.com reported.

The program aims to highlight the cultural development of Xiaoshan and provide a research approach for the internationalization of Xiaoshan culture.

The delegation presented a UN flag to the local Officials of Xiaoshan during the ceremony, as a gesture of friendly cultural relations between the UN and Xiaoshan.

The delegation visited Xiaoshan's historic relics and tourism sites like Kua Hu Qiao Relics Museum, Xianghu Lake, and International Expo Center and watched intangible cultural heritage performances, like the famous traditional Chinese musical Lou Ta Xi Shi Fan and the dancing of Flowers in the Fingertips. They also tried other activities like paper-cutting and opera facial make-ups on shells.

The delegation was amazed by performances and exhibitions, taking photos throughout the duration of the event.
