Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, becomes the permanent host to the Pacific Rim Art Exhibition, an art event jointly organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and a Canadian association for international cultural exchanges, according to the city's foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office.

The art exhibition, one of the most time-honored exchange activities of CPAFFC, has been held for 16 consecutive years. Every year, artworks by artists from Pacific Rim nations are exhibited to present the social and cultural development of the region.

The 16th Pacific Rim Art Exhibition which fell on Oct 20, 2017 was held in Zhoushan. A total of 120 art pieces from eight countries including the United States, Canada, UK, South Korea and Poland were displayed. Twelve works from native artists in Zhoushan also showed the ocean culture at the exhibition.

The organizers of the exhibition spoke highly of Zhoushan's orderly arrangement and active participation. CPAFFC negotiated with the city's government and finally decided to permanently settle the event in Zhoushan.

In the future, the art exhibition will be combined with Zhoushan's culture, tourism, economy and trade, especially with the existing cultural activities in the island city such as the International Islands Tourism Conference.

"The Pacific Rim Art Exhibition is of great significance to tell Zhoushan stories and strengthen the ties among countries along the Maritime Silk Road," said an official from Zhoushan's foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office.
