Wenzhou-style guci, a type of percussive ballad, came to the Rui'an countryside in Zhejiang province on Jan 15.

Guci was listed as one of China's intangible cultural heritages in 2006.

In recent years, Rui'an, a county-level city in Wenzhou, emphasized the protection of this traditional form of balladry. By promoting the art at a grassroots level, Rui'an hopes to increase public exposure of guci.

Currently, there are more than 100 professional guci performers staging the drummed ballad in Wenzhou and its neighboring areas.
