East China's Zhejiang province has prepared various cultural activities in anticipation of the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Feb 16 this year.

The activities, which include opera performances, exhibitions, and demonstrations of intangible cultural heritages, are intended to spread the holiday's festive cheer across the entire province.

According to the Zhejiang Department of Culture, a variety of operas, concerts, and acrobatic performances will be shown during the Spring Festival.

On Feb 20 and 22, the Zhejiang Yue Opera Troupe will perform operas at the Hangzhou Theater. The Zhejiang Song & Dance Theater will hold an orchestra concert on March 1 to celebrate the Lantern Festival. On March 2, a cultural feast featuring various operas, acrobatic shows, and magic shows will be held at the Zhejiang Concert Hall.

Exhibitions with various themes will be open to the public during the holiday. More than 150 paintings reflecting Spring Festival customs will be displayed at the Zhejiang Art Museum. The Hangzhou Wangshaoqiu Art Museum is holding an exhibition of farmers' paintings from Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Cultural relics from Tibet and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions, which reflect the profound cultures of the two regions, will be shared with the people of Zhejiang at the Zhejiang Provincial Museum during the New Year.

At cultural halls in rural areas of Zhejiang, dynamic performances have been arranged. Over 5,000 grassroots galas will sweep through the province during the Spring Festival, according to the culture department. Moreover, villagers will also engage in time-honored traditions such as puppet shows, paper-cutting art, and dragon dances.
