40 performers from Zhejiang Folk Art & Acrobatics General Troupe went on a performance tour in Thailand on Feb 22 at the invitation of China Cultural Center in Bangkok and a China-Thailand federation of industry and commerce.

The tour is part of China's "2018 Happy Chinese New Year" celebrations initiated by the Ministry of Culture to promote the Chinese festive culture around the world.

Aiming to bring the festivity of Chinese New Year to overseas Chinese in the Southeast Asian nation and promote the cultural exchanges between the two countries, the delegation expects to stage three acrobatics shows in Bangkok over the following six days.

All the performances were carefully selected and most of them were winners of domestic and international awards including the one that contains athletic moves and skillful tricks with oil paper umbrellas which was once presented at the evening gala of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kazakhstan in June 2017.

To further highlight the joyful atmosphere of the most important Chinese festival, the troupe made changes to the music, costumes and props during rehearsals and the performers added more Zhejiang characteristics to their performances, hoping people living abroad could gain more profound understanding of the East China province.

Zhejiang Folk Art & Acrobatics General Troupe enjoys great prestige for the skilled movements and ingenious designs. It annually puts on nearly 2,000 performances in China and 100 in other countries and regions on average.
