8,000 runners compete in Xianju marathon

A total of 8,000 marathoners from across the nation attended the 2020 Xianju Marathon in Xianju county, Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 27. 

Now in its fifth year, Xianju Marathon is the first marathon in China that uses an ecological greenway as its track. The race consisted of several events including a full marathon, a half marathon and a mini marathon.

This year, the race started from the Citizen Sports Park and passed through places including Huancheng South Road, Chenxi Road, Yongan Park, Xianju Greenway, Yonganxi River and Shenxianju Tourist Resort.

A section of the track is a floating bridge spanning the Yonganxi River, which offer scenic views on either side.

"The air here is very good and the environment is very beautiful," said Xu Tongshuai, a runner from Zibo in East China's Shandong province who finished second in the half marathon.

Wang Peilin finished first in the men's half marathon with a time of 1 hour 8 minutes and 34 seconds, while Pan Hong claimed victory in the women's half marathon with a time of 1 hour 20 minutes and 15 seconds.

Gu Rongchao won the men's marathon in 2 hours 19 minutes and 24 seconds while the women's title went to Zhao Na with a time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 18 seconds.
