Jiaxing is implementing innovation and talent-driven development strategies to transform itself into a city with vigorous innovation, said Zhang Bing, Party secretary of the city in East China's Zhejiang province.

Zhang made the remarks at the joint conference of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) G60 Science and Innovation Corridor which was held in Shanghai on Dec 27.

The YRD G60 Science and Innovation Corridor, which started in Songjiang district, Shanghai and includes nine YRD cities, explores the free flow of scientific research and innovation.

According to Zhang, the scientific and technological innovation capacity and comprehensive economic strength of Jiaxing have been greatly improved over the past two years.

The city will take more measures to promote the construction of YRD G60 Science and Innovation Corridor, added the Party secretary.

Jiaxing will accelerate the construction of five industrial clusters of advanced manufacturing, develop five emerging industries and five special industrial chains, embark on efforts to build scientific innovation platforms, and highlight the status of companies in innovation.

The city will also cultivate a technology-oriented service market, attract more high-profile overseas talents, and improve supporting services for innovation and supporting public facilities for talents.

In November this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and four other departments issued a construction plan for the YRD G60 Science and Innovation Corridor.

The plan states that the corridor will become a pilot of transforming "made in China" into "innovation in China", technological and institutional innovations, and integration of industries and cities.
