The annual gatherings of China's top legislature, the National People's Congress, and the country's top political advisory body, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, have consistently commanded attention as one of the most important political events in the country.

The political advisory body convened on March 4 this year, while the legislature opened one day later in Beijing.
