Major Qingyuan cross-country event set to hit the road

An international cross-country running event – the Qingyuan Ancient Bridge Ultra Trail – will be staged on May 29-30 in Qingyuan county, administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province, local media reported.

Some 820 professional athletes and 1,755 amateurs from 15 countries and regions have signed up to take part.

The event includes a 65-kilometer race, a 35 km race, a 12 km race and a 5 km race. Runners will be facing challenging courses, with an altitude rising up to 2,800 meters.

According to the organizers, participants can fully experience the area's natural and cultural charms with the routes passing over a number of classic Qingyuan ancient arcade bridges and by Baishanzu, the second highest peak in Zhejiang.

A total of 36 elite runners have signed up, including Cen Wanjiang and Yang Hua, the 2020 men's and women's champions of the 65 km race.

The Qingyuan Ancient Bridge Ultra Trail is an event certified by the International Trail Running Association. From 2018 to 2020, it has attracted a total of 6,700 runners from more than 50 countries and regions.
