Zhejiang releases urbanization goals to achieve by 2025

The Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission released a number of urbanization goals for the province to achieve by 2025 at a press conference held in the provincial capital of Hangzhou on May 27.

Zhejiang authorities announced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, all localities in the province, expect the urban districts of Hangzhou, will gradually accept free transfer of household registrations between them.

Zhejiang authorities emphasized the integrated development of the province's urban and rural regions, aiming to narrow the urban-rural disposable income ratio to 1.9 by 2025.  

The average living space for urban residents in Zhejiang will reach 49 square meters by 2025.

The urbanization rate among the province's permanent residents will reach 75 percent, while more than 75 percent of the province's GDP will be generated in four metropolitan clusters.

In 2020, Zhejiang's urbanization rate stood at 72.17 percent, one of the highest among all Chinese provinces, while 24 out of the top 100 wealthiest Chinese counties are situated in Zhejiang, the highest number among all provinces.
