Nation's first agricultural product safety lab opens in Ningbo

The State Key Laboratory of Hazard Factors and Risk Prevention and Control for Agricultural Products Quality and Safety, the first national key laboratory from Ningbo, was inaugurated on June 29, according to local media reports.

Built by the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Ningbo University, the lab is the nation's first key lab in the field of agricultural product quality and safety.

Chen Jianping, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and head of the lab, pointed out that the lab’s establishment will bolster Zhejiang’s campaign to build itself into a national model for agricultural product quality and safety.

Ningbo University has pledged to invest 280 million yuan ($43.39 million) into the lab.
