Local enterprises from Wenling recently tapped into cooperation opportunities with 52 high-profile professionals from home and abroad via video conferences.

The event came as part of a series of events launched by Zhejiang to attract global talents.

Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou, is a national manufacturing hub for pumps and motors, auto parts, machine tools, shoes, hats and clothing. The city has emerged as a hotspot for global high-caliber talents in recent years.

Official data shows that 172 people from Wenling have been included in Taizhou's "500 Elite Plan", a recruitment initiative launched by the local government to attract global talents.

The strong results are primarily due to the concerted efforts made by local authorities in expanding the local talent pool.

The city is now home to one provincial business incubator, four provincial maker spaces and two technology enterprise incubators at or above the municipal level.

It has also established 16 talent recruitment workstations at home and abroad and formed partnerships with 32 universities, including Tsinghua University.

In addition, two enclaves in Shanghai and Hangzhou have also been inaugurated by the city to channel innovation resources to the city.

Various incentives from government subsidies and low-interest loans to preferential policies regarding housing, healthcare, and offspring education have also contributed to the city's mounting attractiveness to talents.
