Pan'an is a city of forests, as it has a forest coverage rate of nearly 80 percent. Due to this, the annual average temperature in the county is just 16℃, making it an ideal place to escape the summer heat.

Herbal cuisine is popular among Pan'an natives. Local people are good at combining traditional Chinese medicine and other ingredients to make special delicacies that are both healthy and tasty.
