Ningbo Library nominated for Public Library of the Year award

Ningbo Library was recently nominated for the Public Library of the Year award along with four other libraries from Australia, Norway, Belgium, and Holland.

The Public Library of the Year award is presented by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), with the aim of honoring new public libraries.

The award is conferred to a library that has best managed to combine open and functional architecture with creative IT solutions, while also including both digital developments and local culture.

The winner will be announced during the World Library and Information Congress, which will be held online from August 17 to 19.

It will be the sixth time for IFLA to present the award. Winners of the previous five editions were libraries Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, and Finland.

An international jury of IFLA members selected the nominated libraries out of 32 libraries around the world this year. The jury said that they were impressed by Ningbo Library's extensive innovation in areas like information technology applications and building sustainability. 

The new Ningbo Library is located in the central administrative service area of Eastern New City in Ningbo, with a total floorage of 31,800 square meters.
