Zhejiang Party chief meets with former KMT leader

Yuan Jiajun, Party secretary of Zhejiang province, met with Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairwoman of the Taiwan-based Kuomintang (KMT) political party, in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, on July 22.

On behalf of Zhejiang authorities, Yuan welcomed Hung's team, who were attending the fourth session of the Cross-Straits Youth Development Forum in Hangzhou. He also spoke highly of Hung's firm adherence to the 1992 Consensus and opposition to "Taiwan independence".

Yuan briefed Hung on Zhejiang's task of building a demonstration zone for common prosperity as well as its economic and culture exchanges with Taiwan.

Hung showed admiration for what Zhejiang has achieved on its journey toward common prosperity, as well as confidence in peaceful development prospects shared across the Straits. Hung said that she would continue to push forward cooperation between Zhejiang and Taiwan, especially cross-Straits exchanges between youth, so as to make positive contributions to realizing peaceful reunification.
