The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games opened on the night of Aug 24 at Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

Paralympians Zhou Jiamin and Wang Hao served as the Chinese delegation's flagbearers at the opening ceremony.

Zhou, who is from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, won the women's composite open-individual and mixed doubles archery titles at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

More than 4,400 competitors from about 160 countries and regions will take part in 22 sports competition categories from Aug 25 to Sept 5 in Japan.

For the Games, China has sent 251 Paralympians, with their ages ranging from 16 to 56. The country aims to continue its gold medal dominance and top the medals table, as it has done at every Paralympics since the Athens 2004 Paralympics.

Among the Chinese Paralympians, six are from Ningbo. They will compete in events including archery, swimming, and sitting volleyball.
