The 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair opened on Sept 23 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center and will run until Sept 27.

It includes a 1,500-square-meter dedicated exhibition zone for East China's Zhejiang province, which consists of five themed sections, namely digital culture, industrial platform, cultural tourism, film and television culture, as well as creative culture and industrial art. A total of 78 Zhejiang-based companies and institutes in the culture sector are being showcased.

Zhejiang is a leader in cultural sectors among Chinese provinces. Four Zhejiang-based enterprises, namely Zhejiang Daily Press Group, Zhejiang Publishing United Group, Wasu Digital TV Media Group, and Songcheng Performance Development Co, have been included in China's top 30 companies in the culture industry.

In 2020, the province had 6,097 companies in the culture industry that were above designated size, which refer to companies with annual operating revenue of roughly $3.1 million or more. They boasted 1.33 trillion yuan ($206 billion) in total operating value, up 9.6 percent year-on-year.

In the first half of this year, the total operating revenue of the province's above-designated-sized companies in the culture industry surged 30.7 percent year-on-year to 610.2 billion yuan.
