Nanian Wancun, a homestay in Tongxiang, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has recently been rated as a Class B homestay by the National Technical Committee on Tourism of the Standardization Administration of China, local media reported on Nov 29.

There are a total of 27 homestays around China rated as Class B and 31 homestays rated as Class A, the highest ranking.

Located in Hongqiao village, Wuzhen town, Nanian Wancun was transformed from a rural residential building. It is run by a couple that were born and grew up in Wuzhen.

The entire homestay is separated from surrounding buildings with a bamboo fence and vegetation, creating a special space for its lodgers.

With white walls, wooden furniture, French windows, and soft lights, Nanian Wancun offers a comfortable environment to guests, with people often finding themselves at peace once entering the homestay.

The homestay owners said that they introduce the cultural and tourism resources in Wuzhen and Jiaxing to their lodgers, as well as invite the guests to enjoy the specialty dishes that they have made to make the guests feel at home.

Jiaxing has taken advantage of its two renowned scenic areas – Wuzhen and Xitang – to develop its homestay industry in recent years.

The number and quality of homestays in Tongxiang have been taking the lead in the city. Statistics show that as of October this year, Tongxiang had housed 540 homestays with 7,193 beds and that by the end of 2020, Tongxiang had been home to 15 homestays that had won provincial recognition.
