Members of 36 overseas Chinese media participated in the opening ceremony of the "Overseas Chinese Media Visiting Zhejiang" activity held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on March 15.

Since the establishment of the first overseas Chinese newspaper in 1815, overseas Chinese media have proliferated worldwide, becoming an influential force for the international community in perceiving and seeking to understand China.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of overseas Chinese media, Zhejiang's media, as well as representatives of universities and State-owned enterprises, shared international communication cases and discussed their practices and thoughts regarding Chinese culture going global.

The event also featured a discussion on the theme of "Deepening Media Cooperation and Effectively Narrating Zhejiang's Stories". Participants deliberated on how to leverage their respective strengths to convey Zhejiang's stories to global audiences.

"We do not often reside in China, so returning for a visit allows us to gain a deeper understanding of its rapid development. It will also instill greater confidence and pride in our overseas Chinese media when telling China's stories and voice to the world," said Chen Lin, head of Canada Solo Media.

The overseas Chinese media and Zhejiang's mainstream media also held a ceremony to commemorate their 2024 collaboration in reporting on 16 significant events in Zhejiang.
