The average income of Jiaxing residents saw steady growth in the first quarter of 2024. The per capita disposable income was 21,260 yuan ($2,935.14), representing a 6.3 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the urban-rural income gap remained the smallest in Zhejiang province.

For urban residents of the city, the average disposable income per capita grew by 5.3 percent year-on-year during the first quarter of 2024, reaching 23,594 yuan. Wage income reached 15,763 yuan, up 5.2 percent. Operating net income was 2,951 yuan, a 5.8 percent increase. Property net income amounted to 2,036 yuan, a 3.1 percent rise. Transfer net income saw a robust 7 percent growth to 2,845 yuan.

In rural areas, residents experienced even stronger income growth, with per capita disposable income rising by 7.9 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 17,103 yuan. Wage income was 11,543 yuan, up 7.9 percent. Operating net income reached 3,565 yuan, an uptick of 8.4 percent. Property net income experienced a 3.3 percent rise to 771 yuan. Transfer net income totaled 1,224 yuan, reflecting an impressive 9.5 percent growth.
