The latest data released by State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power showed that in the first three months of this year, Zhejiang generated 11.05 billion kWh of wind and solar new energy, a year-on-year increase of 40.88 percent.

A total of 3.811 billion kWh of wind power was generated, an increase of 45.29 percent year-on-year, while 7.243 billion kWh of photovoltaic power was generated, an increase of 38.67 percent year-on-year.

Wind power in Zhejiang is mainly offshore wind power, with Zhoushan, Ningbo, and Wenzhou being the primary wind power generation areas in the province. These three accounted for more than 70 percent of total wind power generation in the province in the first quarter.

Figures show that in 2023, Zhejiang added 9.78 million kilowatts of wind and solar installed capacity. As of the end of March 2024, Zhejiang's total installed capacity of wind and solar new energy had reached 42.14 million kilowatts, an increase of 2.73 million kilowatts in a single quarter.

On the other hand, with the upgrading of technology in industries related to new energy, the efficiency of new wind and solar units has significantly improved, driving a substantial increase in power generation.

Spring is traditionally the season with the most wind and sunlight, and this spring in Zhejiang has seen less rain and more sunshine, which is conducive to large-scale photovoltaic power generation. On March 29, the maximum photovoltaic power output in Zhejiang reached a record 23.33 million kilowatts.
