The first stop of the nationwide tour promotion event for the Quzhou musical Southern Confucianism captivated audiences in Shanghai on April 5.

The 100-minute performance offered a compelling exploration of Southern Confucianism, captivating audiences with its immersive storytelling.

Organizers also arranged a promotional event for Quzhou, featuring the launch of its first batch of cultural and creative products and a Song Dynasty-themed market, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in Southern Confucian culture.

In a significant gesture to the citizens of Shanghai, organizers announced that from April 15 to 30, residents of the city can enjoy free admission to 14 attractions, including Lanke Mountain and Yaowang Mountain, by presenting their ID cards.

Following its Shanghai success, the musical is set to tour 13 other cities, including Haimen, Wuxi, and Taizhou in Jiangsu province, promising to bring the enchanting tale of Southern Confucianism to audiences across the region.

Southern Confucianism tells the story of Confucius' 53rd-generation direct descendant, Kong Zhu, who returns to Qufu in Shandong province, the birthplace of Confucius, to safeguard the family ancestral temple after living in Quzhou for a century.
