The Liandu district of Lishui city – located in East China's Zhejiang province – has been integrating the digital economy into its homestay sector, in order to provide tourists with a cleaner and healthier accommodation environment.

Through the district's healthy homestay digital supervision platform, health supervision personnel can carry out round-the-clock dynamic supervision of disinfections and cleaning of local homestays which have joined the healthy homestay program.

For example, at Seclusive Life in Landscape (Yinju Huaxiang) – a homestay in the district – room cleaners now have to place a mobile camera in the room to capture all the cleaning steps.

The images are then uploaded to the digital supervision platform in real time.

Tourists can scan the QR code in the guest room to check out the most recent changes of cotton fabric, for example, and records for disinfection and cleaning of sanitary ware in the room.

"The thing we worried about most when traveling was the sanitation of guest rooms. Now, as long as we scan the QR code, we can see the room's cleaning records. I feel very relieved," said a tourist from Shanghai.

To date, a total of 14 homestays in Liandu district have joined the district's healthy homestay program, according to officials.
