Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages (ZYUFL), founded in 1981, was approved by the Ministry of Education to upgrade to a full-time general undergraduate university in 2008.

With two campuses, Jishan and Jinghu, ZYUFL covers nearly 87 hectares and a floor area of more than 420,000 square meters. Its library has over 1.82 million paper books and more than 1.14 million e-books.

The university has more than 1,000 faculty members. Among the full-time teachers, over 80 percent boast master's degrees or above, and 34 percent have senior titles. In addition, the university has over 100 foreign teachers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea and Japan, 25 of whom have doctoral degrees.

ZYUFL has set up 11 secondary colleges and 34 undergraduate programs, covering the five disciplines of literature, engineering, economics, management and art, and 13 foreign language courses in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Indonesian, Thai and Czech. With abundant educational resources for the cultivation of minority language talents, Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages is the only undergraduate institution with Indonesian and Thai programs and the one with the most foreign languages in Zhejiang.

ZYUFL has formed a discipline layout with literature as its body, economics and management as wings, and multiple disciplines developing in a coordinated system. Its foreign languages and literatures are provincial first-class disciplines. The Korean program was a provincial key program and a provincial dominant program during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). The programs in English, French, communications, and international economics and trade are provincial emerging characteristic programs.

Attaching importance to internationalization, the university has established cooperative relationships with 120 universities and institutions from 27 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Poland and Taiwan, carrying out such projects as dual degrees.

Advocating the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress", ZYUFL provided services for the World Internet Conference for three consecutive years and provided translation services for the G20 Hangzhou summit as the only chosen university outside Hangzhou.
