The municipal bureau of commerce of Shaoxing led a trade delegation of over 400 textile and apparel enterprises to participate in the Texworld Paris & Apparel Sourcing Paris on July 3.

"We have participated in the Paris exhibition for several years," said Wei, representative of Shaoxing Chuantu Textiles Co. She expressed hope that the platform will serve as a catalyst for her company to further expand its foothold in the European Union market.

In 2022, the total value of Shaoxing's trade with the European Union reached a substantial 48.78 billion yuan ($6.74 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.76 percent. The city's exports amounted to 46.17 billion yuan, an impressive year-on-year growth rate of 9.46 percent.

In 2022, trade between Shaoxing and France reached 4.02 billion yuan, signifying a steady year-on-year increase of 5.52 percent. Exports accounted for 3.87 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 4.43 percent.

An authority with the municipal bureau of commerce emphasized that since the beginning of this year, Shaoxing has made strong efforts to expand local companies' market outreach.

"In the first five months alone, we coordinated 182 group events, facilitating the participation of 1,581 enterprises in overseas exhibitions. Consequently, we have secured promising deals worth approximately $925 million."

While solidifying its presence in traditional markets such as Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, Shaoxing will channel greater efforts into exploring emerging markets, including ASEAN, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
