Zhoushan's GDP up 7.5% in Q1

The GDP of Zhoushan in Zhejiang province was 49.13 billion yuan ($6.78 billion) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7.5 percent, according to authorities.

The added value of the city's large-scale industries achieved a 13.7 percent year-on-year growth, while investment in fixed assets witnessed an 11.0 percent year-on-year surge.

The total retail sales of social consumption goods reached 14.42 billion yuan, an uptick of 9.1 percent year-on-year.

Expenditures on research and development by Zhoushan's enterprises above designated size experienced a significant surge of 38.3 percent year-on-year.

The output values of the city's strategic emerging industries, core industries of the digital economy, and high-tech industries saw year-on-year increases of 71.6 percent, 24.4 percent, and 15.8 percent, respectively.

The income gap between the city's urban and rural residents has further narrowed, with the income ratio now at 1.72, a decrease of 0.04 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
