An online platform for providing big data exchange services was launched in Wuzhen, Jiaxing city of East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 26. It aims at exploring new ways of helping companies analyze and integrate their data as well as providing support services.

The Zhejiang government is pushing ahead with improving its big data sector. The online big data exchange center is the only one of its type approved by the provincial government.

An official from the center said that data should be regarded as a raw material which, after being processed and organized, is able to provide businesses with a better understanding of trends, forecasting and analysis, which can be applied across all industries.

Positioned to be an open, objective, independent national third-party data exchange center, it is expected to play an active role for storage, clearance, analysis, exploration and exchange of big data in Zhejiang and across China.

The center operates on a membership basis and has already surpassed 100 members.

Four deals were made on the opening day, totaling 2 million yuan ($299,890.54).

In the future, the center will launch customized solutions based on big data application, providing support and assistance for data development for all industries.
