Three intelligent manufacturing projects in Yueqing, a county-level city in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, were recently added to the national list of key construction projects, a demonstration of the city's achievements in developing the intelligent economy.
Yueqing has been attaching great importance to a strategy of intelligent electrics and equipment to speed up the shift to new growth drivers.
In 2017, the city spent 2.85 billion yuan ($446.9 million) in supporting the scientific and technological activities of enterprises above designated size - defined as State-owned and non-State-owned industrial companies with an annual revenue of over 20 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 34.2 percent.
In addition, 49 national high-tech companies settled in Yueqing last year and the entire high-tech sector generated a total value added of 15.96 billion yuan, ranking first in Wenzhou.
The city made a five-year plan of action for the transformation and upgrading of the electrics industry. It aimed to build a world-class cluster in this sector by setting up 10 platforms for industrial innovation and public services.
Meanwhile, focusing on the new economy with the digital economy as the hallmark, Yueqing has been striving to promote the development of seven emerging industries including intelligent equipment.
To boost the integrated development of electrics and equipment sectors, Yueqing announced to give financial support to those who purchase intelligent machines from local companies.
Today, intelligent equipment manufacturers in the city have customized over 600 automated assembly lines for nearly 100 local electrics companies. The automated machines and equipment have covered more than 80 percent of enterprises above designated size in Yueqing.
