Zhejiang to build 100 digital industrial parks by year-end
East China's Zhejiang province plans to build 100 digital industrial parks by the end of this year, according to a recent official document.
The document states that industrial parks, high-tech zones, characteristic towns and industrial cluster regions should strengthen the application of information technologies in order to realize full coverage of digital services. It requires the digitalization of facilities, management and services, as well as the cultivation of more digital companies in the parks.
On Aug 2, a new industrial park focusing on the development of digital economy was formed in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, by merging Hangzhou Cross-Border Trading Town and Hangzhou E-sports Town. It is expected to become a new driving force behind the development of the city's digital economy and is an important step for Hangzhou in its quest to become the country's "digital city".
Digital economy is the top priority for Zhejiang province. With the rapid development of internet, Zhejiang has been promoting the digital transformation of industries. In the first half of 2019, core digital economy industries witnessed a growth of 14.8 percent in value-added year-on-year, helping Zhejiang secure the lead in the country.
At the same time, the digitalization of industrial parks is also crucial. Chen Chouyong, director of a local research institute for information development, said the digital development of industrial parks is fundamental to the transformation of traditional production modes.
