Introduction:
Pinghu Folk Custom Museum, located in the west of Donghu Scenic Area, opened in 2002. It is the Jiaxing Patriotism Education Base as well as a science education base, and is renowned as a national AA level tourist area.
The museum includes two exhibition zones: an intangible cultural heritage protection exhibition center and a farming culture exhibition center.
The intangible cultural heritage protection exhibition center covers an area of 1,820 square meters, with 1,750 sq m of buildings. The main building, originally built in the 1930s, used to be the home of Family Lu, a wealthy merchant of Pinghu in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, and now is well-preserved for appreciation of Republican styles. The intangible cultural heritages, such as dance and sports, craft and arts, as well as music and opera, are demonstrated in all kinds of ways, including reproductions and pictures. The center also exhibits some heritages with Pinghu style, such as Pipa, Bozishu, nine-color dragons, watermelon lanterns, eggs preserved in rice wine and homespun clothes, all of which are listed as national or provincial or municipal intangible cultural heritages, worthy of appreciation.
The farming culture exhibition center in the golden dragon gate ecological leisure park of Guangchen town covers more than 50 acres. It includes a farming culture exhibition gallery, a folk custom square, an animal stadium, an oil-pressing workshop, a pastoral farming area, facilities for outdoor barbecuing and other tourist attractions.
