An awards ceremony for role models who have done good deeds for society was held in Zhejiang province on Jan 7.

Ten individuals and groups were honored, including a village doctor who has been charging little for every patient for 53 years, a 20-year-old girl who was stabbed eight times while protecting her classmate, a Party chief of a village who helped lift villagers out of poverty, an archeological team who provided key academic support for Liangzhu Ancient City's World Heritage application, and the rescue team who helped fight against Typhoon Lekima in August, which was the third-strongest typhoon to hit eastern China since 1949.
