Joyson Automotive Safety System Co, a subsidiary of Joyson Electronics based in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, has recently been cooperating with Ford to produce protective suits and masks in the United States to aid in the country's fight against COVID-19.

The company is a well-known auto safety systems supplier which focuses on producing air bags, seat belts, steering wheels and electronic safety systems. Its five plants in the US started producing protective suits on April 6 using textiles for air bags. The suits can be washed and reused up to 50 times.

The company currently produces 75,000 suits per week, and that amount is expected to reach 100,000 in the future. It is now making bands for Ford to produce breathing masks.

"We are now turning our focus from automobile safety to medical safety, and we are glad to have the chance to help protect and save lives," said Guido Durrer, CEO of the company.

Durrer added that the company has cooperated with Ford to make a sample mask that meets the federal government's standards for COVID-19 control and will start mass production within a week.

According to the company, employees are doing the job voluntarily, and the company has also taken measures to prevent them from getting infected.
