Quzhou, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, will become the leader in Big Garden development in Zhejiang, said Xu Wenguang, Party secretary of Quzhou, during an interview with local media on April 28.

Xu believes that Big Garden should have a garden-style environment, industries, and governance.

Zhejiang is the center of the Big Garden project, a demonstration city for the "Two Mountains" theory and a model green scenic city in Zhejiang and hopes to become the greatest city in Eastern Zhejiang, he noted.

Quzhou is currently building a series of public service facilities to improve the urban environment and expand Zhejiang's economic influence to surrounding provinces.

In addition, the city has also proposed forming a “beauty" economy, a "happiness" industry, a digital economy, and an intelligent industry to turn its environmental strength into industrial strength.

The "beauty" economy and "happiness" industry refer to the development of a Quzhou city brand, the construction of a scenic belt, and the cultivation of emerging industries.

Quzhou has also worked to improve the quality of life for local residents by requiring motor vehicles to yield to pedestrians, banning people from dropping cigarette butts and paper advertisements on the ground, prohibiting people from spitting in public, requiring people to line up in an orderly manner, encouraging the use of serving chopsticks and spoons, and promoting the habit of bowing as a more hygienic means of greeting people, according to the Party secretary.
