The project to build the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Pinghu Range International Information Port, worth 13 billion yuan ($1.83 billion), was signed to settle in Pinghu park in YRD Hi-tech City on May 13, injecting a new development driver into Jiaxing's high-quality economic development. Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, and Zhou Chaonan, chairman of Range Technology Development Co Ltd, attended the signing ceremony.

Zhang congratulated all involved on the signing of the project and expressed appreciation for Range Technology's decision to invest in Jiaxing. The city is faced with great development opportunities created by the national development strategy – YRD integration and the forthcoming centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Zhang said he hoped the project will be completed and put into operation as soon as possible, and that it would help build the Pinghu Range International Information Port into a center that will serve the YRD region, China and the world.

The project consists of two sections – a big data center and an innovation application center. The big data center will lay out the new generation of information infrastructure, involving a data center, a supercomputing center and a digital economy industrial park. The section will be divided into four stages and completed in four years. Construction of the first stage will start this year and is scheduled to be put into operation in 2021.

The innovation application center will lay stress on big data applications. It will construct a big data center for innovation and entrepreneurship, an exhibition center and related supporting facilities, to attract globally well-known enterprises in networks, cloud computing, the internet of things, e-commerce and consulting to settle in the park. Construction of the innovation center and the first phase of the big data center will start simultaneously.

The information port will be developed into the largest big data innovation application center in the YRD region, promoting the construction of new generation information infrastructure, the coordinated development of the industrial internet and the integration and innovation of intelligent applications, making digitization, informatization and intelligentization powerful engines for the integrated development of the YRD.
