Zhejiang to get better involved in YRD integration via digital economy
Zhejiang province will fully leverage its advantages in the digital economy to get better involved in the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region, according to a news conference held by the State Council Information Office on Dec 6.
A guideline on the YRD integration was introduced at the conference. It states clearly the goal to digitalize the region and thus create great opportunities for Zhejiang, as the province is well-known for its booming digital economy.
The added value of the province's core digital industries increased by 14.9 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of the year.
The province was listed as one of the country's first experimental zones for digital economic innovation at the sixth World Internet Conference held in October in Wuzhen.
Zhejiang plans to cooperate with Shanghai, Jiangsu and Anhui to build digital infrastructure such as a data center, and establish several digital industrial clusters, to make itself a global digital economic innovation hub.
According to the provincial development and reform commission, Zhejiang is now building three development zones focusing on the digital economy and three centers focusing on digital technological innovation, trade and finance.
The province is also working on building 100 unmanned factories, nurturing 100 key digital companies, conducting 100 major digital projects, renovating 100 parks and establishing an industrial investment fund worth 10 billion yuan ($1.42 billion).
The province plans to strengthen reform to promote government digitalization in the future, and strengthen innovation to promote the Electronic World Trade Platform around the world.
In addition, Zhejiang will help promote the construction of a demonstration zone for the integrated, environmentally-friendly development of YRD. Its Jiashan county is part of the zone.
