Huzhou's Changxing county is expected to welcome the spring tea harvest season in mid and late March, according to local media reports.

The tea plantation in the county spans roughly 150,000 mu (10,000 hectares) this year, with more than 100,000 tea pickers from across the nation expected to be hired to lend a helping hand.

Local farmers forecasted that the harvest season will be five to seven day earlier than previous years, with the temperature picking up faster after the "Beginning of Spring", the first solar term in the Chinese calendar.

Recently, farmers have been busy fertilizing, which usually comes after the "Beginning of Spring" period and a month before the harvest season, according to Zou Xinyue, a tea farmer from Tanlongqiao village, Heping town.

Gan Guoqiang, owner of a tea garden in the village, said that he plans to hire more than 200 tea pickers from places including Shandong, Henan, and Anhui, paying them 170 to 180 yuan ($27.7) per day.
