Longquan celadon – the distinctive green-glazed ceramics native to Longquan, the county-level city administered by Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province – made a bravura appearance at the first China International Consumer Products Expo, or Hainan Expo, which opened on May 7 and ran to May 10 in the port city of Haikou, in China's southernmost Hainan province.
The Longquan celadon exhibition area showcased 55 superb celadon pieces, as well as provided an introduction into the craft.
In September 2009, the traditional firing technique for Longquan celadon was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.
In recent years, the distinctive porcelain – one of the star handicrafts of Zhejiang culture – has been displayed in many important international conferences, such as the APEC conference, the World Internet Conference, the G20 Hangzhou Summit and the Belt and Road Forum.
The four-day Hainan Expo, presenting consumer products from around the world, provided a window into China's high-quality retail market, but also serves to connect the internal and external circulations, helping other countries to share the opportunities of the Chinese market and China to offer the world more of its consumer products.
