Jiaxing hosts art exhibition honoring 'Red Boat Spirit'
The Jiaxing municipal government, as well as the Chinese Arts and Crafts Society jointly launched an arts and crafts exhibition themed around "Red Boat Spirit" at Jiaxing Museum in Zhejiang province on June 18.
On display were a total of 110 masterpieces by about 100 prominent industrial artists nationwide, commemmorating major events and achievements throughout the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. The "Red Boat" is widely celebrated as the birthplace of the CPC. In 1921, the first CPC National Congress reconvened on a red boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing after it was interrupted by authorities in Shanghai's then French concession. It was aboard this vessel that the 13 delegates announced the official founding of the CPC.
