Wang Meifu, spokesperson and general statistician of the Zhejiang Bureau of Statistics, presented a series of statistics to demonstrate the province's affluence in a recent interview with a local media outlet.

Zhejiang's per capita GDP was 113,000 yuan ($17,854) in 2021, which was 1.4 times the national average and 1.45 times the world's average.

Zhejiang residents' per capita disposable income was 57,541 yuan in 2021, eclipsed only by Shanghai and Beijing among all provincial-level regions. The per capita annual disposable income ratio of urban residents to rural residents in Zhejiang was 1.94, the third lowest among all provincial-level regions.

Among some 350 Chinese cities at or above prefecture level, three Zhejiang cities - Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Shaoxing - made the top 10 in terms of urbanites' per capita income. Meanwhile, six Zhejiang cities, namely Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Huzhou, Shaoxing, Ningbo, and Zhoushan, made the top 10 in terms of rural residents' per capita income.

The median annual wage for employees of Zhejiang-based above-designated-sized companies (those with annual operating revenues of about $3.1 million or more) stood at above 64,000 yuan in 2020.
