The fascinating culture surrounding the revering of Huangdi – a golden name in the history of East China's Zhejiang province – was included in the report made by Yuan Jiajun, secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, to the 15th CPC Zhejiang Provincial Congress.

The congress was held in Hangzhou city, capital of Zhejiang, from June 20 to 22.

Huangdi, also known as the Yellow Emperor, was a mythological-historical figure believed to have been sovereign of a united China around 5,000 years ago.

Chinese people across the world tend to call themselves "descendants of Yandi and Huangdi". That's because Yandi, a sovereign, eventually succumbed to Huangdi and their two tribes merged. They have long been viewed as the two most important founders of the ancient Chinese civilization.

Jinyun county, located in Zhejiang's Lishui city, is the only county in China named after Huangdi. Legend has it that Huangdi culminated his life in Dinghu Peak, located in modern day Xiandu scenic area in Jinyun, by riding a dragon there to heaven. As a result, the area is called Xiandu, which means "fairyland" in Chinese.

Jinyun's tradition of hosting Huangdi worship rituals dates back 1,600 years. The literati of all dynasties have left countless poems and calligraphy there, praising the Huangdi culture and the mesmerizing scenery of Xiandu.

Entering the new era, Jinyun is inheriting and zealously passing on Haungdi culture and is actively promoting the integration of culture and commerce. At present, the Huangdi culture digitization project, the Huangdi culture museum and other related projects are moving ahead smoothly in Jinyun.
