Jinyun county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – recently introduced a program, covering eight areas, to improve the inheriting and passing on to future generations of its prized Huangdi culture.

Huangdi, also known as the Yellow Emperor, was a mythological-historical figure believed to have been sovereign of a united China around 5,000 years ago.

Legend has it that Huangdi crowned his life in Dinghu Peak, located in Jinyun, by riding a dragon to heaven. Jinyun is the only county in China named after Huangdi.

The eight areas include Huangdi cultural interpretations, demonstrations, popularization and digitalization.

They're aimed at nurturing the Huangdi culture, so that it becomes an internationally influential and high-profile culural symbol of Zhejiang by 2025.

Jinyun has been promoting the Huangdi culture in nine languages – Chinese, Arabic, English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish – on various international online platforms, which are said to have received a huge amount of exposure as a result.

Jinyun's tradition of hosting the Huangdi worship ritual dates back 1,600 years. On Sept 2, a digital program on managing the Huangdi worship ritual went online, an initiative expected to improve the efficiency of the whole process behind the ritual.

At present, the Huangdi culture digitization project, the Huangdi culture museum and other related projects are said to be progressing well in Jinyun.
