Zhejiang University of Technology unveiled a next-generation security protection framework at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on April 18.

Developed by Professor Chen Tieming and his team, the Kellect framework stands out from its competitors by breaking through the current closed state of mainstream operating system kernels and caters to a diverse range of terminal systems, according to the developers.

Powered by artificial intelligence, Kellect can automatically recognize and analyze network threats, and ensures background security detection and protection without compromising network performance or requiring user input. The framework can also automatically configure settings and manage security policies, said the developers.

The core component of Kellect's software has been made open-source and been included as a university open-source project case in the 2022 Chinese Open Source Development Blue Book.

Chen said his team is committed to further developing Kellect through collaboration between the industry and the academia to create a "China model" for independently controllable security software.
