Reading event cements links between Shanghai, Taizhou

The 2023 Shanghai-Taizhou Reading and Cultural Event kicked off at the Duoyun Bookstore Flagship Store in Shanghai on the afternoon of July 2.

The event is intended to bolster cooperation between Shanghai and Taizhou through the power of reading and culture. It includes a variety of activities such as author sharing sessions, book fairs, and recitals.

During the opening ceremony, Li Yueqi, Party chief of Taizhou, highlighted the growing partnership between the two cities due to the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. He expressed hope that the event will deepen cultural exchanges and bring high-quality cultural resources from Shanghai to Taizhou for the benefit of locals.

In a significant development, four areas under the administration of Taizhou - Jiaojiang, Huangyan, Luqiao, and Tiantai - signed agreements to deepen cooperation with four renowned bookstores in Shanghai - Dayin, Duoyun, Sanliane, and Zhongshuge.

The 2023 Shanghai-Taizhou Reading and Cultural Event is part of the broader 2023 Shanghai-Taizhou Week and will run for eight days.
