In the first half of this year, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight service operated a total of 921 trains from Yiwu, according to the municipal development and reform commission on July 3.

The trains transported 76,256 20-foot equivalent units, marking a 14.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Since the beginning of this year, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains have launched several memorial trains, including the China-Germany Diplomatic Relations Commemorative Train, Yiwu-Central Asia Five Countries 10th Anniversary Train, and China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) New Energy Train.

The CMEC New Energy Train will assist Uzbekistan in building its largest capacity photovoltaic power station, providing reliable electricity to approximately 495,000 households and reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 445,000 metric tons.

"The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains are very punctual and cost-effective, meeting the transportation capacity needs of projects. In about 20 days, goods can reach Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan," said the logistics manager of the New Energy Department of CMEC.

The project is expected to be grid-connected and begin generating electricity by the end of this year. The months of June to August are peak season for transportation. Photovoltaic panels, components, cables, inverters, and other materials are all transported via the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains.

Currently, the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains have expanded their reach to over 160 cities in more than 50 countries and regions across the Eurasian continent, operating along 18 routes.
