Ningbo's online retail sales hit nearly 25b yuan during shopping spree
Ningbo's online retail sales during the "Double 11" shopping festival reached almost 25 billion yuan ($3.43 billion), with a solid 24 percent year-on-year growth from Oct 24 to Nov 11.
Leading the pack in physical online retail sales were household appliances and audio-visual equipment, clothing, shoes, hats, and textiles, as well as daily necessities, with sales of 6.55 billion yuan, 5.42 billion yuan, and 3.35 billion yuan, respectively.
The "Double 11" period saw a surge in service consumption, particularly in the catering, tourism, accommodation, and entertainment sectors.
Agricultural e-commerce also thrived during the "Double 11" shopping spree, with live-streamed sales of agricultural products contributing to an impressive online retail sales figure of 460 million yuan, a 9.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. Both Beilun district and Jiangbei district experienced a more than 120 percent year-on-year increase in online retail sales of agricultural products, with meat, poultry, eggs, snacks, and aquatic products being the top-selling categories.
