Jinhua held a legal salon for foreign students in Hengdian town, Yongkang on Dec 14, according to local media reports.
Nearly 50 international students from Zhejiang Normal University, representing 39 countries, participated in the event.
The salon aimed to assist international students who recently arrived in China in gaining a better understanding of Chinese laws and regulations, enabling them to have a smoother experience in their studies and daily life at the university, said a lawyer who gave a lesson to the students.
The lawyer gave detailed answers to questions such as "I have already obtained a driver's license in my home country. Do I need to take a new driving test to drive in Jinhua?" and stated that as long as the student holds a valid driver's license and complies with the relevant regulations while driving in Jinhua, he can legally operate a motor vehicle in China.
During the event, another lawyer, Ni Xue, explained the law using practical examples. She vividly explained 13 common criminal cases that college students may encounter and provided detailed analyses of the psychological motivations behind these crimes and the relevant legal provisions involved.
Jinhua currently has trade relations with 233 countries and regions, and its economic vitality and development prospects are attracting an increasing number of foreigners to come here for studying, doing business, working, and living.
The city established a foreign-related legal education station in 2020 and has organized five physical legal education salons and online legal lectures. It has also published 10 bilingual legal Q&A articles on the public WeChat account "iJinhua", and has provided legal services to more than 10,000 individuals.
